CDS Bid & Bash Frequently Asked Questions
Bid & Bash will be a night of celebration, community building, food, drinks, and dancing. There will also be exciting events like a silent auction, raffle, and live auction…and you can raise your paddle during the Fund-a-Need. Bid & Bash is a community celebration where CDS parents, faculty, and staff come together to raise funds to support CDS sliding scale tuition.
1. When and Where is Bid & Bash?
This year Bid & Bash will take place on Saturday, April 5 from 6pm to midnight at the Hibernia in downtown San Francisco.
The night-of program will feature:
2. How do I buy tickets to the event and what is included in my ticket?
Tickets will be available for purchase in February on our ticketing site. Tickets are available on a sliding scale: look out for an email if you receive sliding scale tuition. We anticipate this event will sell out, so purchase your tickets early!
What is included: Hosted bar, seated dinner during the live auction, dancing and entertainment all night long, and a night of fun and laughter. Reach out to advancement@cds-sf.org with questions.
3. Does the event have a theme and do I have to wear a costume?
Yes, we love a theme! This year the theme is Defying Gravity: There’s No Place Like CDS. This theme draws inspiration from Wicked, the Wizard of Oz, and the Wiz. Think green, glitz and glam, ruby slippers, gowns, sparkles, suits, casual elegance, fun hats, or even a particular character’s look! Costumes are always welcome, but not at all mandatory, and we try to choose a theme that lends itself to an outfit that you can select from your closet. If you want to go all out, you can do that too!
4. How does the fundraising work?
Bid & Bash will raise funds for our sliding scale tuition through our fund-a-need paddle raise, as well as a live auction, silent auction, and raffle. The silent auction will be open leading up to the evening and will close after the event. Raffle tickets will be sold leading up to and during the event, and the winners will be drawn during the program. The live auction will also take place during the evening. If you’re unable to attend, you can still support by bidding in the silent auction or making a donation. If you would like to place a proxy bid for the live auction, please reach out to Scott Hunt at scotth@cds-sf.org. Parents will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for our Count-Me-Ins through our ticketing/auction website.
5. How can I get involved and what can I donate?
We are looking for parents and other members of the CDS community to host Count-Me-Ins (CMIs), and donate to our Raffle and Live & Silent Auction items.
Count-Me-Ins: Consider hosting a Count-Me-In party, which are events hosted by CDS community members that raise funds for sliding scale tuition. Learn about them and get ideas here! Fill out this form when you’re ready!
Auction Donations: Consider donating concert/sports tickets, wine, vacation stays, restaurant experiences, and more that can be featured in our raffle, silent, and live auction. Donate here.
Raise your paddle for our Fund-A-Need: Our Fund-A-Need is an energizing part of the program where the community comes together to support sliding scale tuition at the event by donating a cash gift through a live paddle raise!
6. What are the benefits of sponsoring or underwriting the event?
Sponsorships are vital to the success of CDS’ auction by covering expenses so that the proceeds can benefit sliding scale tuition. There are a variety of sponsorship giving levels that include ads in digital materials, brand recognition at our in-person celebration, and visibility on our CDS website. It’s an opportunity for the business community to give back and sponsorships are tax-deductible.
Underwriting is another way to support the event and help cover expenses, thereby increasing the event’s proceeds to benefit sliding scale tuition. Underwriting donations are 100% tax-deductible.
Find out more about our fun sponsorship and underwriting opportunities by checking back here soon or email advancement@cds-sf.org. Please note that you can also ask your employer/business to match you in your sponsorship.
7. What will the proceeds from Bid & Bash be used for?
Proceeds raised from Bid & Bash directly support our sliding scale tuition program. Over a third of CDS students receive assistance through our sliding scale tuition (CDS allocated over $4 million dollars this year), so this event is both meaningful and essential to CDS’ commitment to keeping an economically diverse student body.
